When starting a new career path or joining a new association, it is only natural to have concerns.  If you are considering joining The Chef Alliance, you are not alone in asking  "Does the expense justify itself?

It’s common to feel insecure about your future and to commit to a recurring expense.  Let’s put things into perspective for you, and answer some common concerns from chefs just like you. 

HOW MUCH WILL MEMBERSHIP COST ME EACH MONTH?
Our lowest level of Membership costs just a little over $1 a day, so a cup of coffee at your local Tim Horton’s costs you more!  Also, did you know that Memberships can be claimed as a business expense, so when it comes to tax time, you can claim it against your income.  To help you with budgeting, we take this as a lump sum or in two equal payments for the Term.


WHAT BENEFIT WILL I GET FROM MEMBERSHIP?
Liability Insurance
Membership includes liability insurance for your business. Unlike other organisations, each Chef has their own certificate of coverage. Our members have told us that this benefit alone has made their membership worthwhile. Rather than costing them money, it SAVED them upwards of $500 – insurance companies will typically quote an individual Personal Chef $1000+ for similar coverage.

It’s always tempting to ignore this business expense because you think that nothing will ever go wrong.  You’re a professional chef, after all!  But is it really a risk worth taking?  Are you really infallible?  Handling and preparing food can affect the health of your clients.  Working in a kitchen is a minefield of accidents waiting to happen.  You know the risks, so why not safeguard against them?  

Medical
Members can also get group rates for medical & dental insurance.  For chefs with families, this can be a huge savings – covering prescription costs, massage therapy and more!  By looking after your wellbeing, you’re also giving longevity to your business.  

Marketing
We market Personal Chef services on a national scale.  Over the years, we’ve invested in TV, radio & print advertising, tradeshow sponsorships, product launch sponsorships and much more!  In the past, we partnered with many companies such as Shoppers Drug Mart, The Bay, Sears, and others, and in rewards programs, such as Aeroplan and more!  

We also promote our Chefs in newsletters targeted to media, foodies & our vast client base, as well as on our websites.

Our past corporate clients included well-known companies such as Dare Foods, 3M, Sobeys, Miele and more...

Business Support
The Chef Alliance is dedicated to the success of your Personal Chef business.  Our Success Managers are available to discuss ideas with our members on how to grow their business.  We also send out regular newsletters to our members, giving them marketing tips, ideas to retain clients, business growth strategies & more.

Business Growth
Members get direct referrals through our websites, and from past clients that we’ve introduced them to.  For these, we do not get involved in the booking negotiations – you negotiate the booking and payment directly.  

​We also have opportunities that we do not make public – such as those for celebrities and VIPs – these are ‘by invitation-only’ jobs, kept for select members, based on meeting the client’s criteria.

Credibility
You also have the benefit of being able to say that you are a member of a well-respected organisation such as The Chef Alliance.  This gives you added credibility – especially with corporate clients who are familiar with our impeccable reputation.


HOW LONG DOES MEMBERSHIP LAST?​
Membership is for a minimum of 1 year; full details are outlined in our application form.  To receive the form, contact any one of our Success Managers. Simply complete the form, and send it in along with your up-to-date resume.  


I BELONG TO ANOTHER ASSOCIATION.  DOES THIS MATTER?
No. Each organization has their pros and cons.  We would never dissuade you from joining another association or retaining a membership in one.  All we ask is to consider the VALUE you will get from membership with The Chef Alliance and compare it to those organisations.    *not guaranteed for every location
